Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got my Metal Muff today, and when Its plugged into my line6 in clean channel its fine, but when I plug into my Valve Jr. its instant and constant feedback til my hands touch the strings. It doesn't sound soft and get gradual, its an instant constant feedback signal till the second my hands touch the strings. Even when I'm playing and I'm in between chords and my fingers are off the strings for a mili-second it comes back instantly. What is the solution to fix this problem? This may be a dumb question, but I think its valid to ask since it only feeds back very little through my Line6. Thanks.

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

try a noise gate or a HUSH

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be obvious, but I'll ask anyway: Did you try messing with any of the controls? What might be good settings for the line6 might not be good for the valveJr. Try turning down the volume or distortion controls, and also stepping away from the amp.

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I adjusted the controls differently for both amps. I understand that there will be feedback with lots of gain, but this is not normal feedback; Its excessive. I have a 20ft cable and I walked away from the amp until the cable was out of slack and it was still the same. I didn't think everyone with a high distortion and a tube amp would need a noise gate, as I understand not every metal player has one in their rig.

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bump again, sorry, need to get this figured out. Prolly an obvious answer but I'm not sure, If its string grounding, what is the best way to do it?

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

maybe with the extra gain from the new pedal it is making a microphonic tube appear more so then before

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find that with some settings, some pedals will just oscillate and feedback when you stop playing. Work the knobs and see if you can turn the gain down.

i've heard of pedals Oscillating like that... never seen/heard it myself that often....

Yeah, I had a Johnson Distortion/EQ pedal a long time ago and I could actually control the pitch of the oscillation with the mid freq. knob.

Re: Feedback Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update: I've got the problem narrowed down, The second I switch the pedal off the feeback stops. Even with the gain all the way up on the amp and the master volume on 5 it is dead silent even with my hands off the strings. Then the second I turn the pedal on its feedback mania, the pedal sounds awesome when I'm playing, but there just so much feedback. I'm pretty sure that most overdrive pedals wouldn't do it this bad. Is there nothing I can do about it, besides buy a noise gate, or is there maybe something in the pedal that is defective. Man its really p-ing me off, since this is suppossed to be a really nice pedal, and the base of my new rig.
