Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

I have a 89 fender hm strat white with rosewood fingerboard.
Not sure if I want to part with it or not but thought I would put out a feeler to see if there is any interest
in it before wasting time and money on an ebay listing.
It has some wear that shows its years but is not a beater by any means and I can send pics if anyone wants.
It has stock pots and single coils with a dimarzio paf pro in the bridge.

Here is a few quick pic's of the guitar.
Guess the thread was worthless without pic's

Man,I love it. I used to have one just like it except a maple board. I miss it a lot sometimes. Any ballpark #'s?

Re: Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

Is that really a FRED in the bridge? Reason I ask is it usually comes stock with chrome pole pieces like that. The pickup in the pickture looks like the stock Dimarzio that comes in Fender HM's (H3/Super 3).

Re: Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

It is a fred, swapped out the original pup because it seemed very dry, if that makes any sense.

Price wise how does around 400 bucks sound?

I'm looking to get another non trem guitar but have no idea what I want get.

Re: Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

Weird all 4 FRED pickups I have, have chrome pole pieces. Is it me or are the pole pieces black on yours?

Re: Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

Had to take a look and I will be ****ed, it is a paf pro.
Thanks for pointing that out

Well now it's completely worthless *grin*

The Super 3 was introduced in 1994, when I had one of these guitars I thought it was a Super 3 in the bridge as well.

So now that I know what pickup I installed in the guitar, thanks Fusion1 for making me look :headbang: how is the price?
Again don't have to sell it but I'm thinking I need a mahogany non trem guitar like a schecter blackjack or esp ec400 and the more I get the more it makes getting something new worthwhile.

Not sure how the Super III came to be, but the Dimarzio made H3 (I think it was called) in the HM's is esentially the same pickup as the Super III. Dimarzio themselves will acknowledge this fact. They probably had requests for these pickups that were in the HM's and they weren't available aftermarket at that time (as you noted the Super III didn't officially debut until 94), so perhaps that was the reason they released the Super III, well that and Phil Collen used one. Maybe that's the story... maybe not...

The Super 3 was designed especially for the HM Strat in '87. They stopped production of the HM's in '92, and DiMarzio made the Super 3 available to the general public in 1994.

So you bump a year old thread to spam your website?

It worked. I visited it.

LOL!

Re: Feeler for a 89 HM Strat

I sold my HM strat a few months back, same model year and all. Only difference was it had a set of EMG's (89, SA, SA), it was black with a maple neck & fretboard. it had some scrapes and such in it, but I got $300 for it with a Fender gig bag and a cheap nylon strap I sold with it. Probably, yours is worth at least that much, maybe more since it looks original.

I made the mistake of selling the original Fender molded case that came with my HM - had I kept that case and the original pickups I probably could have sold mine for more. With that said, I am glad I sold mine - those Kahler Spyder parts are next to impossible to find now. The person that bought mine actually contacted me by email shortly after to share that he had over tightened the bolt that secures the lock block in place, and sheared off most of the bolt. I didn't hear from him again after that, and I recall telling him specifically to not over tighten those bolts.
