Feeler post: Epiphone Gold Top w/ Mike Ness pups and autograph

This is just sort of a feeler post to get an idea of what this guitar might be worth (I'll post pics soon)

What we've got here is a very stunning copy of an Epiphone 56 Goldtop with duncan custom shop P90's wound to Mike Ness of Social Distortion's spec. Very hot, scatter wound.

The guitar has been redone with top quality electronics, switchcraft jacks, toggle etc.

Bone nut and set up work done by J Thomas Davis, one of the nations finest guitar builders (Does work for James Hetfeld)

Guitar also has an autographed pickguard by Mike Ness and the exact same Clay Smith Cams woody woodpecker bird decal on it.

Epiphone hardshell case as well

Any idea's what it might be worth if I were to sell it ?

Wow, why would you sell it unless the wood used in the acutal guitar was some of that cheap, light and airy mahogany Epi uses sometimes? I'm a big fan of Mike Ness so I may be biased...but...

I'd probably bid up to $1000 - $1200 range to have something like that in my collection if I had money. Of course it would be for sentimental value, nothing more. I certainly don't have much interest in playing an Epi...

The only guitars I'd want to have more in my collection (autographed) would be:

Joe Strummer
Jimi Hendrix
Jimmy Page

So take my .02 with some spare change

Re: Feeler post: Epiphone Gold Top w/ Mike Ness pups and autograph

Thats pretty much just it, as cool as it is I don't play it and I'm not really one to hang a guitar on the all (I can't afford no $1K "art" lol)

As far as an Epi goes its one of the best I've ever seen, two seperate luthiers both commented on how it sounds amazing for an Epi and that I "had a good one"

With the hot p90's it just nails the Social D tone as well but as much of a lifelong fan as I've been, its just not something I'm really playing much anymore (getting too old or something lol!)

I'm definatly doing more of the bluesy jam stuff with the guys I play with anymore and have been using my gretsch and strat.

I just sort of hate to have such a great guitar that stays in the case and some exta money couldn't hurt so I was thinking of seeing what it might be worth to someone

thanks for the input on it

No doubt, I can't afford another guitar right now or I'd actually be interested. I'm gettin old too, I've been playing a lot of funk and reggae (you know, laid back, chill and squeaky clean) during my jam time, but a guitar like that would sound great with some of the songs I play guitar on with the band...
