Fender 1999 limited Strat Value?

I have a 1999 Fender USA made strat that I need to put a value on, not really sure how much it would be worth but it's in a really rare finish of transparent white with an ash body. The headstock is a different shape to a normal strat too, what's the value of this thing?

American Standard 1999.
Prolly around 1200-1400 Aussie.
Hang on to it. They are good sounding, good playing indestructible workhorses.
Excellent test bed for pickup swaps and stuff too.

I would value that about the same as strat plus deluxe or standard. $800-$900

How is the headstock different?

It doesn't have the regular large strat headstock it's slimmer

Even with the finish on it? I thought the finish would make it worth more?

I've really never found any finish to be a value add unless the guitar itself is a rare/desired model even with other finishes - and there is extra collectibility due to the colour being less common.
Or it gets an artist association....examples: 1974 Anniversary LPC in white, late 70's Silverburst Custom.

The problem is the AVRI range sits above and commands the premium due to the (slight) increased vintage accuracy.

That appears to be the normal small headstock to me. The finish is not really rare as Fender has and continues to use blonde. Are you looking to sell it or just wanting an idea of market value?

I'd say reasonably speaking it would probably fetch $750-$850 U.S. unless you were willing & able to wait around for the guy that's looking for that specific guitar in that color in which case you might be able to push it closer to a grand?

My avatar is a picture of my 1998 American Standard Strat...a great playing guitar! Back in 2005 I bought it in a pawn shop with tax for about $1,100. It came with a real nice Fender hard shell case. I thought it was a good deal at the time. It sure is a keeper.

Yeah if I remember correctly these had like a almost Faux Nitro finish? I mean it could be real nitrocellulose for all I know, I never really got close enough to notice but I do remember one in our local music shop more than a few years back now. Again if memory serves me right the clear was laid on nice & thick but the blonde base had a thin vintage nitrocellulose look to it where the grain was kinda showing through it....

The absolute only reason I remember the particular models is because it was one of the nicest & most expensive guitars in the old fiddle shop for a good two years until someone finally bought it. I was just a broke kid at the time & it was a pretty small place so there was only a handful of high end USA Fenders in there at any given time. All of them were well beyond my price range... I definitely lusted after it some though!!!

Exactly!!!! That's why I thought it would be worth a fair bit even being from 1999, like the finish is super rare you kind find them anywhere on the Internet. When I got it serviced the owner of the music store I went to who is like 80 odd said its the nicest strat he has seen in a very long time so it's gotta be worth a fair bit surely, that's why I put it out there, but everyone says it's worth less then what I paid for it. Like I have had it for a while now I thought it might have gone up in price. In he case there was a laminated price tag thing that was used when the owner put it up for sale for a bit in a music shop and it said $2200AUD with case, which is what I have. Obviously the music store would take their cut out of that price but surely that still worth like $2000? I paid way less then that but still I thought it would b worth that now?

Re: Fender 1999 limited Strat Value?

Well, a correct blonde finish is transparent, like a slightly darker Mary Kay. You don't see it as much on the Strat as you do the Tele, but it is still used.

Ultimately anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but I think the market for that guitar is the same as a clean Deluxe Plus.

*edit* I just checked Reverb sale history and it appears three sold in the last couple of years for between $600 and $800. Here is a complete body that sold for $500 last year.

Oh man you're right! That's crazy I thought they would've been way more expensive!

I have one exactly like it, i paid $800 Canadian used about ten years ago. Nothing really rare about the headstock or the finish. Nice guitar though.
