Anyone have experience with these? I have found a little bit of info on talkbass.com, but not much. Lots of info on the Custom Shop 60's and Original Jazz Bass pickups, though.

I have a 90's one of these and it sounds so good, I'm leaving the stock pickups in it. Punchy, cutting, smooth.

+1 They came stock in my AVRI. Grey fibreboard bobbins. I shall have to check the DC resistance figures.

I think of these pickups as suiting Marcus Miller and Geddy Lee type sounds. By comparison, I think of the AVRI '62 pickups as suiting Blues, Soul and John Paul Jones sounds.

Cool, that's the type of info I need to know. The tricky part is that I like Geddy's growly tones, but I want more low end like John Paul Jones.

Ahh...more great information. I use nickel wound D'Addarios on all of my guitars. I used to have a Peavey Fury with black tape-wound strings which I LOVED. My current basses both have round wounds, not sure what kind because I bought them used. I have a pack of D'Addario chromes waiting to go on my PJ style bass. So far the roundwounds on my Jazz Bass sound nice and edgy. Me likey.
