Fender American Deluxe Strat, routing question.

Does anyone know if the American Deluxe Stratocasters (the HSH in particular) are routed deeper than the regular (SSS) Strats, to accept the humbuckers?

Or are the Fender OEM humbuckers designed so they fit in a shallow cavity rout?

I'm asking because I'm trying to fit a JB and a 59 into said Strat...

My 99 AD is routed for H/S/S...Not sure if the depth is more extreme or not?

I have put Duncans in two American Deluxes. One was a '98 ash body which I sold to get my '04. Both were stock SSS guitars that were routed HSH. The only thing I had to alter was the length of the screws. I cut them down to .875" (7/8") . You need to make sure the the wiring isn't bunched up under the pickup either. I can adjust the pickups so they are below the pickguard. Fender does not route the bodies any different for the HSS version. But they do put a LSR roller nut on them and that's why I bought the SSS version instead. I'm not a fan of the LSR.

The only thing I had to alter was the length of the screws. I cut them down to .875" (7/8") .

I did try that approach when I first got everything set up, I even tried drilling holes under where the mounting screws are. The problem is that the pu's mounting points are too tall, so when I cut the screws, the pus fell off of them when I adjusted the height! :smack:

Anyway, I'm testing the setup on an American Standard Strat, so I'm wondering if the cavity routing is shallower than on the American Series Deluxe Strats... Anyone know if this is the case?

Some of the Ducans have longer "feet". I have some with different lengths.
