Re: Fender bass battle
I just picked up some basses for the first time the other day and I can say that:
(note I was using a P bass special, P/J combo for a better direct-comparision)
The Precision definetly has a deeper/thicker tone, I'm surprised considering its pickup arrangement, it had this slam which was great.
The Jazz bass...is just ugly imo, but the pickup has a real different tone...I think...I don't know how to say it...it sounds like ...hmm...maybe you'd understand this...
it sounded like if you took two of the exact same drivers (speakers) and put them in a box (both full-range) and wired one of them to be inverted phase, it sounds hollow like that does...bassless and flat. I really didn't like it much. but whatever...lol, since they have more j-bass signature basses I guess more people like the jazz bass haha.
