Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass

I’m trying to find info on my mates Jazz Bass. It’s a 2012 Mexican Deluxe with active circuitry. Does anybody know whether it’s just the EQ/preamp that’s active, or is it the pickups as well? He’s thinking of upgrading the pickups, and I don’t know where to start!

Any info/thoughts/ideas gratefully received.

I think that was just an active tone circuit, and not active pickups.

I have the Mex Deluxe P-bass (P/J Hybrid) and it has the active EQ. The pickups are N3 noiseless. I just took all of the active circuitry out (while retaining the pickups) and much prefer it as a passive.
