Fender Dimension?

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
Anyone played one? Demo looks pretty cool!. Sorry Im at work and cant post the link. Has an asymetrical neck and active electronics. Only Fender basses Ive ever really liked are the Aerodyne and the model like Duff used to play

Re: Fender Dimension?

doesn't look exciting to me.
first impression: they borrowed ideas from other basses (p-bas, jazz, stingray, G&L) to make a new bass not as interesting as any of the originals.

Re: Fender Dimension?

Haven't heard any yet, haven't played it yet... looks unusual. I'm not sure if it'll catch on.

Re: Fender Dimension?

I kind of want the basic model. I might be playing the bass in a new project, so I want to get something decent without going overboard on price. This could fit the bill, although it's hard to argue against a good old p-bass.

We will see how they perform once they hit the shelves.

Re: Fender Dimension?

Puts me in my of the Line6 Variax bass guitar controllers. Trying a little too hard to be different when there is no need.

As is so often pointed out, Leo got most of the elements of an electric bass guitar right early on. Musicman and G&L presented him with ample opportunity to start from scratch but, what did Leo build? Answer - slight variations on the P and J ideas.

How is the ASAT Bass or the Stingray a variation of the P or J bass? Completely different electronics and sound, and in the G&L's case looks. Plus the hardware on the G&Ls is leagues better. What was he supposed to do?

Re: Fender Dimension?

I'd definitely like to try one out if I find one, to see/hear what would be different. At least Fender is trying something different than their flagship models, and I appreciate that.

Re: Fender Dimension?

Fender adding a MusicMan type bass to their classics isn't a bad idea at all.

I think Fender should have bounced the idea of many body shapes off beta testers first, so they could have come up with something a little more sexy, although the more I look at it the more it seems alright.
