Fender Esprit MIJ Master Series...Which Model?

I had one of these years ago and I sold it...well...basically so I wouldn't have to live in a refrigerator box under a bridge. Anyway...I am a responsible adult now...yuck. Anyway having the means, and having found one of these fairly rare beasts...today...I've replaced it. This one is so much cleaner than mine was, the top is a lot nicer, and the color is too (the old one was cherry SB and very plain). So, mine was a Standard. This one looks the same, but it has a coil splitting switch. To boil it down...same body, tuners, and inlays as the Standard with the electronics of the Ultra. What model is that? I should be able to find it online, but...I'm probably just I-spazzing.

I have two others that are Squier Esprits. I think they're amazing once you swap the PUP's/electronics and hardware, and they're cheap! Not sure what I'll do with this one...just play it for a while I suppose. I have different amps now, so I'll see how these Schaller PUPs play with them. I have SD 59's in one and Ibanez Super 58's in the other, and they both have Tonepros hardware (one has Grovers the other Shaller locking tuners). The new MIJ guitar has all Schaller hardware, so before I try to put Tonepros or similar on there...like I said...just play for a while.

Haven't added a new guitar for about a year, so I am pretty excited. I may have to sell a few coming up because I just have too many, but it is sooooo hard to decide what to part with!

Thanks all!Esprit Front.jpgEsprit Full.jpgEsprit Headstock.jpgEsprit Back.jpg

Thanks for the responses.
I think it's tough to come up with a design that has class, a unique voice, and can hang stylistically with what I consider to be the classics...Strat, Tele, SG, LP, 335, & 175. I think this guitar does that.

Very nice!

Guy that taught me to play is a big fan of the Robben Ford versions, he has several and thinks they are about the best guitars he's ever played. He has some very serious guitars so that speaks very highly of them.

Good luck with the guitar, it's a beauty

Cool, miss when they bothered with proprietary pickups and such.

I honestly cannot remember whether I liked the Schaller PUP's or not. If I remember, it had 1meg pots all around and .22 caps. I tend to like .15's for the neck, but I'll just play it for a few months probably. I have a Ceriatone OTS and Fender Deluxe Rev that will be the likely companions (unless it happens to mesh with a Suhr Badger). It will be fun to experiment.

That really is a nice looking guitar. Balanced and clean.

I've always liked them. They can be hard to find, and are often expensive. I was looking for one back in the '90s, but ran across a used Ibanez Ghostrider GR-520 for a good price. That fit my need, so I gave up the search for the Esprit. These days, I've gotten more into Les Pauls, so I don't really have a need, but if one came up I would certainly look hard.

Aside from the Ghostrider, the Cort Matt Murphy Signature is in this genre...another fine guitar. I'm sure there are others.

Cool find. Definitely some envy going on. Enjoy!
