Fender Fat 50s and Duncan SSL5 do they wire up the same?

Re: Fender Fat 50s and Duncan SSL5 do they wire up the same?

Do Duncan and Fender use the same wiring codes?

Which specific Fat 50 are you looking to replace with the Duncans? One of my guitars has a Fralin SP43 in the bridge and then Fat 50s in the middle and neck positions...I can check the 3 pickups as far as N or S magnet polarity for ya,but not sure if that will help?

I think you're concerned with how the pickups are electrically wound...

Not sure specifically about the wire codes/colors?

Its an OEM set without reverse middle

the SSL5 is in the bridge

I guess, but I thought this is something half the geniuses in here would easily know. Do the wire color codes match?

im pretty sure fender pups are opposite polarity or something. wire the duncans according to the duncan diagrams and then reverse the hot and ground leads on the fenders.

You might want to call the techs at Duncan and see if they can help?

I had to reverse my twangbanger to work with Fat 50s but mine had a RWRP middle pickup so maybe you dont. Like ol' SDlux97 said, 1-800-PUP-WIRE would be a quick and sure way to find out...

Lord knows I've had to call over there a time or two or three! :biglaugh: Scott Miller has helped me out quite a bit and is a great guy!

If you run into a problem, flip flop 2 of one brand, wired normally, and wire the off brand with leads reversed.

Yeah, But if you have a H-S-S setup and the 2 singles are magnetically out of phase, You can flip all the wires you want... It ain't gonna happen.:1:
