Fender Frontman 65R Combo

I've seen on some sites where people like to rag on the Fender Frontman 65 and 212 combos. My wife got me the FM 65R for X-Mas last year and at first I was a bit skeptical only because IMO, the clean channel sounded a bit trebly and the Gain also left something to be desired. Seeing that it was a gift from my wife and that I didn't want to upset her, I kept it, and decided to swap out the stock speaker and instead, put in a Eminence Red, White, and Blues 12" which drastically improved the tone. Now, I can't keep my hands off of it. Before this, I was using a Crate GTD120 which weighed a ton and while the gain was great, the cleans left a little bit to be desired as far as my Strats were concerned. Now my Strats sound like Strats, and I'm also using a Zoom John 5 pedal with it, which is a added plus because these amps are very pedal friendly. Also, it's a lot easier on my back when I bring it to a gig with my band and for a 65 watter, it's amazingly LOUD!!!!!!

That's great man - it's always awesome when somebody finds the groove with their gear!

I had a Fender SS ** 65** something or other and I was surprised at how good the cleans were with a speaker swap...it cost almost nothing and I used it with some pedals for a few years. When I sold it for a little bit more than nothing, three people called within an hour...a decent amp for the money.
