Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

Hmm.... I've got the Mustang III. I've used it to rename a few of the presets, but mostly I don't bother with it. The III is pretty easy for me to adjust to taste with out it.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

I would highly recommend using Fuse. You get access to more amp, and effect, models. And, MUCH more control over EVERYTHING.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

I just picked up the III and I love it. I'm having problems getting a chunky sound out of my Strat though. I know it's a single coil guitar but I got a pretty chunky sound on my old amp. I have the Duncan Designed 101's in there. Any suggestions for a Green Day ish sound?

use the marshall jcm800 type amp and use the gain to taste (don't overdo it) and bump the mids up.
A lot of the green day sound (I'm thinking Dookie era) was the JB pickup running into a marshall cranked loud, but there was a lot of studio mastering.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

And to the OP, for the mustang 1 and 2, the Fuse is absolutely essential because there's no other way to change things like amp head/cab combinations, "pedal" settings, reverb type, "bias" and "sag" settings, etc. You can't do it from the amp.

Even with the mustang 3 and 4, it's nice to have an easy to use GUI to tweak that stuff.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

Question...

On the 1/2..can i program the amp to use the hidden models like the brit 70s through fuse, tweak the sag or bias or cab or whatever, save the tweaked patch to the amp, and pull it up later when i do not have the amp connected to FUSE? It doesnt seem very clear in the fuse guidebok..

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

I got a Mustang IV and have used FUSE just to try it out…

So-so and the upload was a real pain in the boot to upload.

It’s a fun amp that I gave to my son…

I stay with real tube amps.

yes you can. absolutely.

I have the mustang 1... all my red presets are american flavored amps and all my green colored presets are british, including the "70's marshall" kind. I like that setup, I always know where I'm going when I turn the preset knob.

you can also tweak the FX and Reverb presets... I changed the first reverb preset to the Fender '65 reverb sound on "2.5"... which is wayy close to what I use on my own DRRI at home.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

Seriously ... Fuse is the best thing about the Mustangs. They're still good amps without it, but with Fuse they become a full featured practice rig with tons of tweak-ability.

I don't think I've physically touched my Mustang other than to turn it on or off since the day I bought it. I do all the tweaking in Fuse. It's much easier.

Excellent. Thank you.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

After messing with it all day it helps but I wish it was better. The stomp boxes are just okay and the cabs are just okay I thought as well. One thing I didn't like is you can't have an overdrive and compressor stomp box at the same time. Oh well, it was a cheap amp and still sounds pretty good.

Re: Fender Fuse software for the Mustangs?

I just put my real stomp boxes in front of the clean amp models... doesn't sound too bad. not great, but I'll still take my crunchbox over the built-in stuff.

I got some pretty beefy tones putting their overdrive in front of the JCM 800, The Rectifier and Metal amp models - turn the gain down on the amp to about 4 or 5 and use the over drive gain to taste.

I'll try this when I get back to my mustang.

Tonight it's been all "Les Lius + DRRI". I can't get enough of that ****.
