Hello world,
This is my first post on here since I've recovered from noxious solder fume inhalation trying to fix this noisy guitar. Anyway, the beast in question is a Fender J5 Triple Tele Deluxe which comes armed with THREE wide range fender Enforcer humbuckers, 1 tone, 1 volume and a 3-way LP style toggle switch. All of which is pretty unusual for a Tele, hence my difficulty in tracking down accurate data on this bamf.
By the by, I initially opened this guitar up to rid myself of ridiculously bad EMI that came free with it. Thus I was putting copper shielding innards in it and resoldering the shoddy cold joints on the back of the pickup terminals when I had a thought: What IF I rewired this so I could get a 5-way strat switch thing going on (N, N+M, M, M+B, B) as opposed to just the 3-way LP toggle action currently (N, M, B)? The I had another thought (2 in one day I know!): What if I utilised the magical properties of push-pull pots to create a globally effective series/parallel switch with the volume pot and an in phase/out of phase switch out of the tone pot? IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? This may require an enormous roll of 22 gauge but it would be awesome for the purposes of recording soundtracks for shark documentaries. And, um, Melvins. Any advice is most appreciated, you will save me hours of trawling youtube watching stoners talking bs about pure indigo cosmic aerial wiring schematics. Peace.
