Something weird going on there. Almost looks as if somebody has converted a four string to a fiver. (This would explain the odd positioning of the decals.)

The split coils P pickup is definitely in the correct position and of the correct dimensions to sense four strings rather five.

The Wilkinson MM style pickup has never been stock on any Fender/Squier bass guitar.

The pickguard has the look about it of a Line6 Variax.

Clearly, a fake but it would be interesting to deduce the sources of all the parts.

Well, somebody has gone to a fair amount of effort to apply decals and revarnish headstocks. Unfortunately, that person has gone about it with insufficient attention to detail. More importantly, that person has overlooked the fundamental flaws in both instruments.

The white bass could well be Japanese. It could have been built in a well-respected factory. It resembles the lower quality end of the so-called lawsuit instruments from the Seventies. With its original headstock decal, there might even have been a cult market for the instrument - warts and all.

The black bass makes sense if it had been a simple Stingray-inspired format - one pickup, volume, treble EQ, bass EQ. The P Bass pickup and the two additional controls are an afterthought. The spacing of the knobs gives this away.

That Precision? Yow! Why in the name of Leo Fender would anyone need 5 knobs?

Also, according to the net searches I've done, there were no "KN" serial numbers issued for any of the various Korean manufacturers (of which there were several).

That looks like it may be a home-built bass with a counterfeit decal.

Here's where I looked:

I suspect that a five string neck has been forcibly married to a four string body. (Compare the cutaway widths!)

Yeah, and what's with the low string sticking out of the bridge? That's just plain sloppy.
