Fender Mustang V Head vs Bugera 333 Infinium Head

Can't decide between the two of these heads. I like an amp that can play a wide variety of different genres, from Rockabilly/Country to Rock/Metal. Fender Mustang V Head vs Bugera 333 Infinium Head................GO!

Re: Fender Mustang V Head vs Bugera 333 Infinium Head

Personally, I'd go with the Bugera. the peavey XXX is one of my favorite amps. It can go from pristine clean to modern metal, and most things in between. The bugera 333 seems to be a copy of it. I've also read the new bugera infinium amps don't have the quality issues the first models had.

I've only played a mustang II for about an hour, but I hated it. Then again, 95% of what I play is metal. It might be good for genres other than that, I can't really speculate there. Also, an hour really isn't much time with a modeler. Maybe I didn't spen enough time to find a decent metal tone.. I'd try one before i bought it.

You also have to consider you'll need pedals or a multi fx unit for the bugera if you think you'll want lots of bells and whistles... I've just recently made the decision to go from modeling (peavey vypyr) back to a simple tube amp set up (6505).

Sounds like you have a similar decision to make...

I've already got an array of pedals. MultiFX isn't something I really need. I love playing metal as well. I just want peoples opinions on which one would have the best tone for playing from twang to evil thang.

Bugera all the way. It's a very good and versatile amp. Can't really get into the Mustangs.

I'd also consider the 333 XL. I think it's $50 more and it covers even more ground. Especially in area between Clean and Mean

BUGERA !

A friend of mine gigs with a 1960 head + Marshall cab.
2 gigs a week, every week, for two years.
NO RELIABILITY ISHOOOS - AT ALL !!!

I can only assume the the 333 is of the same durability and reliability !

EDIT : he did change the valves with in the 1st three months.

Sounds MUCH nicer with a full set of JJ's.

Bugera any day. I picked up a Mustang V last year on a Friday. I returned it on Sunday. Terrible sounding amp!
I cringe when i see people praising them. A SS Crate sounds better.

Re: Fender Mustang V Head vs Bugera 333 Infinium Head

I tried a Mustang just to see Fender's take on the modeling thing. The "Fenderish" amps sounded like they should. Anything hotter just sounded off. (Surprisingly, I actually like the Fender MH500, and the Metal setting on the Mustang was just okay.) If you're looking at modelers, I'd definitely recommend the Vypyr series. There's a mod to add an FX loop which really opens it up.

I'd definitely go with the Bugera in this instance. Just be sure to always have a cabinet attached. ;)

Thanks guys! I believe I shall go with the Bugera!

Good call. I actually like Bugeras (if only the big ones, and only with other brand speakers/cabs), but....the Mustang is SOOOO unbelievably hideous that anything, even a 20yo SS Crate or Marshall MG, could run circles around it all day long
