Look at those beautiful saddles - http://shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/telecaster/american-professional-telecaster/0113060700.html#cgid=root&q=telecaster&prefn1=refinement-body-shape&prefn2=series&prefv1=Telecaster&prefv2=American+Professional&cgidx=electric-guitars&start=1

You could knock me over with a marshmallow, never thought ther would be a day when I would get all excited about saddles but dang those are something.

sorry for the interruption y'all can get back to trying to uncover what thanaton is trying to...well, I 'm stumped.

The American Professional series is what Fender aficionados have always wanted.
They finally hit the nail on the head, after all these years of re-creating the same basic models with countless features.

My next guitar will be an Am. Pro Tele.

Fender said:
Combining vintage style with modern feel and performance, the redesigned “ashtray” cover stays out of your way, even when palm-muting.

FAR out of your way, apparently.

Re: Fender pro series Telecaster

is fender just using ashtray cover as a buzzword? i have yet to see a picture of this guitar with any bridge cover at all but it says it includes one. seems to me any cover at all would make palm muting almost impossible

Re: Fender pro series Telecaster

I always wondered why the bridge needed a cover, anyway.

Re: Fender pro series Telecaster

Yeah, but everyone takes it off and loses it!
I am not a Tele fan at all, so the whole design is a mystery to me...haha!

Leo Fender designed as a Palm rest, a shield to reduce noise and feedback. Leo Fenders designs are so elegantly practical in almost everything he did. Look at his amps (Jim Marshall certainly did) and guitars, they all reflect his vision of function and being easily repaired.

I found a picture with the cover on it. Can't see why it's there, but it is. Thankfully, you can pull it off. Here's a pic for those who are curious.

Bridge cover is actually kinda cool. The rest of the guitar looks glorious.

A Telecaster with the full bridge cover is actually somewhat less ugly. You can sort of tell why Fender's initial preference was to cover that stuff up.

Years ago I had a Tele with the cover and it definitely changed the tone. With it off, you could hear more overtones. I tossed mine into the case and it went with the guitar when I sold it. It's easy to see why they got lost.

What I don't get is that they still put a string tree on when they have staggered tuners. Do they have hacks cutting their nuts?

'Deluxe/Elite' guitars don't have string trees.

I recall something similar about having the cover on my Jaguars/Jazzmasters... But it's been years since I've done that.
