Fender Squier upgrade issues

I just changed out the stock pups on my 2007 Standard Squier Tele with Seymour Duncans. While I had her open I decided to uprgade the wiring as well. I changed the tiny 500k pots to "normal" Fender 250k pots and change the 3 way switch. I even changed out the jack socket.

Surprise! The cup hole for the new jack socket is too small. Because the new pots are larger the control panel now doesn't line up. I hate to drill new holes. If I do then the pickguard won't line up.

What have I done!?!? Anyway, has anyone else gone through this? Any advice? Thanks!

I think we need some pictures.

Yep, very common on offshore made guitars. You can either carefully router some clearance or get some new mini pots. I put CTS mini's in my SX Jazz Bass. Works great.

Hmmm. My Squier had standard sized pots in it. I haven't yet changed the jack but I will eventually, so I'm curious if a US-made Switchmaster jack would be too big after reading this.

If it were me, I'd go back to the original jack socket, and grab some alpha pots. Yeah, Fender CTS pots are nice and have a bit smoother taper. Alpha pots sound fine though, and they fit.
