Fender/Squire saddle screws

I have a MIC Squire Jagmaster. After trying the trick I read about on these forums of loosening the neck screws with the strings tuned to pitch to get the neck to settle firmly in the pocket, the intonation is off and the action jumped up. It feels a lot higher now. The intonation isn't hard to set - I have a philips head screwdriver. The set screws that adjust saddle height are another matter, however. I went to the hardware store with my guitar and picked up a cheap 1/16" hex key and tested that it fit the screws before leaving with it. When I got it home, I found that it only fits the outer strings - the high and low E. It doesn't fit the set screws of the other string saddles. WTF, did I buy the wrong hex key? So I go to the Internets and read that the set screws that Fender uses on their string saddles need a .050" hex key - the next size down. Okay, well, that's no trouble. I go back to the hardware store and trade the 1/16" hex key for a .050" one. I get home and try the .050" hex key and find it's too small for all the saddles. Whee.

So what am I doing incorrectly? What is the correct size allen key to adjust the saddles on a MIC Squire?

I have no idea myself, but you might try the Fender website. There's a forum on it and you might be able to find your info there.

I don't know the answer. How much does the hex key cost? I was thinking that if you buy a set of new saddles, it would come with a hex key to match the set screws which come with it. The Fender stamped saddles are about $20, and they are nice.

Idk what the size is, but the import tele bridge i bought from guitar resource came with a key that fits my partstelecaster, my jagmaster, tele custom2, p bass and my peavey preadator.

if you're really unlucky it'll be like the rear toe adjusters on our race car. we need a jamb nut for that, but the threads are some made up chinese thing, not metric OR standard.
