Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

StrangeSound

GlossesForNothin'
Hey,

does anyone possess the guitar? How do you like it? I´ve been looking out for these..since yesterday :laugh2: Dunno..they look cool and they´ve got what I need but I´d replace the single-coil in the bridge for a humbucker in single-coil size, cause a HSS is my combo.

I´ve got an Ibby now but a Strat would fit better the Jazz/Fusion stuff I play.

Any quality issues? What are the "normal" (~1200€) strats made of and how does ash sound like?

I heared it´s a love/hate thing in the Fender-Community.

Any thoughts are welcome! :)

Re: Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

I actually played one of these in a local store last summer i think. I really digged it, especially for the price. From what i remember i didnt see a big difference between it and some americans i played. If i get the money to get a fender, that will be my first choice.

Re: Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

Lite ash sounds pretty good. I have played a few Fenders and some G&L's made of light weight swamp ash. I like it, if it's light weight, and usually with a rosewood finger board.

Compared to a standard USA Fender of alder, the sound is more crisp, with a sharper pick attack. Additionally, Lite Ash has comparitively tighter, deeper, bass, scooped mids, and brighter, clearer, treble. Sustain is usually a bit better.

With ash the lighter the better. Rather heavy ash guitars sound sterile and thin to me.

Re: Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

odd, but the lite ash strat and tele are some of the heaviest recent fenders i have played. try several out if you can, but the few i played were quite heavy. maybe 'lite' meant the wood color?

Re: Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

I played a lite ash telecaster a few back and it was one of the best guitars I"ve ever played. I'm sure the strat is jsut as good

Wicked! Good news..now I´m pretty motivated :fingersx:

Thanks for the comments!

Re: Fender Strat Lite Ash anyone?

Get a HW-1 instead.
Never tried a Liteash I liked that much, something about them does not feel right.
The necks are strange and the ash is not all that much of a good quality.
Or dig up some old ESP Navigators or a 400 series strats.
Old 80's Tokais are quite cool too, but very vintage, so therefor the ESP Navigator might be the thing?
HW-1's are routed ssh by the way.

Ok thanks...I´ll consider to test some HW-1, too.

ESP Navigator...I should seek on ebay for them or is it a regular production?

I hope they´re not that expensive..the Lite Ash and HW-1 are leveled on a quite moderate price-range.

Used to be ESP's highend strat model in the 80's and 90's.
They have flatter radius plus 22 frets, and are in general great guitars, had quite a few of those:D
Never figured out why I sold them:(
They are mostly sss routed, but adding that extra routing should be easy.

Ok, cool.

I´m gonna check out the lite ash first and compare it to a Hw-1.

I think...I don´t want a real humbucker..perhaps I´ll throw a Hot Rail into it...hm..well let´s see. :)

Lite ash's are a hit miss thing as far as I know? I have played 3 of them. I played one that blew, but that was becasue of the setup. The second one I played had some major mojo and it rocked real good. I played a third one after that, that I just couldn't dig. I like them when their setup well though.

Good post about it there... I played the LA Strat a little while ago, really good buy I think.

EDIT: I would also suggest saving up a bit more and going for Jimmie Vaughan Strat... I own one and I'm very happy with it.
I really dig that one http://fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0139202305

Cool, never heared of that one before but it seems very steady.

Thank you!
