Fender Supersonic 60-Reverb not working.

Hey All,
Traded for a Supersonic 60 (1st version) and didn't get to try it first. That's cool...I know the risks. The reverb doesn't work and when I turn the pot up it starts to squeal around 3-4...no actual reverb...just the squealing.
Before I start messing around with it (and no worries...I will not do any more than tube or tank changing). What would be a good safe diagnostic approach for a non-amp tech guy?
Thanks all!

Re: Fender Supersonic 60-Reverb not working.

you already checked the tubes and tank?

Sounds like a microphonic tube. Swap the PI to for the reverb driver tube, if you don't have a spare 12at7 tube at hand.

I suspect the rvb tank. Check the tiny wires inside from the transducers to see if one or more are loose/broken. If it is the transducers, a new tank is not expensive ~$30+/-.

Thanks all. Tank seems ok...mess with the tubes tomorrow. I think I only have a spare 12ax7.

Clean contacts connecting them too

And don't feel too bad, reverb is pretty much *usually* screwed on second-hand amps

I'm going to change out the hodgepodge of preamp tubes...power tubes look new.
Anyone have a picture of the tube layout? This one is missing and I d see one online.
