Fideli'tron Help

I have a Squier Cabronita bass and the Fideli'tron pickup's output is so low it renders the bass useless. Where do I start in diagnosing the problem?

How close is the pickup to the strings?

Is the sound just low, or does it also sound very thin?

Volume is too low. Pickup is at optimal hight and poles are set.

got a meter? check what you get for dc resistance at the output jack with all controls full up
