Filing the corner off a neck pocket heel?

Anyone ever taken the heel corner off with a rasp and file, for enhanced upper fret access? As a lite version of the American Deluxe or ESP takes on bolton heels?

Amy issues, like the finish flaking onwards?

I did that to my Peavey Predator maybe 10 years ago. I think I used a black Sharpie on the sanded portion. No issues, except I think it looks stupid now and I probably wouldn't do it again.
