Film: The BLackburn Story (Mullard Factory)

Re: Film: The BLackburn Story (Mullard Factory)

I can't wait to hear these new tubes! I read that they plan on releasing an EL84 and an EL34 in early 2009. The 12AX7 replacements will be around $55 each factory direct, I'd be willing to pay that much if they are a significant improvement over current production tubes.

Cheers,

CJ

Seems neat. I just wonder if the new tubes will be worth the extra price. $55 for a new production ECC83 is very steep IMHO.

They are supposed to last ten years, so in the long run it's not that bad at all. I've been in 12AX7 hell trying to find a good one for v1 in my 2204, so if these are as good as I hope they will be I'm all over it!!

Cheers,

They will be for sale in October. They are going to be availible factory direct for now. I just went through six Tung-Sol (New Sensor) 12AX7s that all had a very loud hum so I'm very excited about these new tubes. Plus it's not just rehashing the same old design, it's actually a real advancement in vacuum tube design (if it works).

CJ

For those that haven't seen it, here is the new TechTube Valves ECC83, compared to a Mullard ECC83. The design looks very different; let's hope it's an improvement over every other 12AX7s

They sure look cool ..... These come out early next year right when I plan to buy a new amp hmmm coincidence maybe good maybe ... lets hope so anyway.

Re: Film: The BLackburn Story (Mullard Factory)

I wonder if these tubes will hold up better in the phase splitter position in most amps? IIRC, that's the toughest spot for a pre tube.
