watch where you point that sabre
Finally bought a USB interface (my old Zoom MRS1044 recorder died & I had no choice.)
Yeah, the Zoom won't boot up. I get a "sys file error' message & some funky noises from the hard drive ...so I'm giving the comp recording thing a go..
It's a Behringer UMC202HD (2 inputs) spec'd identical to the Scarlett 2i2 (but $70 vs $200+ for the Scarlett here..)
Hooked it up yesterday...downloaded Reaper (also got a free d/l ticket for a DAW called 'Tracktion 7' bundled with the interface) but I had to wait for Behringer support to send me the d/l link, so I got Reaper meanwhile. I'm going to see which one is easier to get things done with lol..
My 1st recording attempt (DI'd from my AMT Stonehead's cab sim output) with Reaper:
Nothing fancy..just messing around sloppily while I fiddled with levels etc..but it does seem crystal clear and way beyond what my loop pedal/handheld recorder & old Zoom MRS1044 standalone recorder were capable of. Nice and smooth not harsh/grainy like the Zooms pre's tended to be..
While I was able to record this single track pretty quick, I'm totally at sea about proceeding further lol..need to figure out how to lay down drum tracks, use the fx, pan stuff, edit , etc...
But yeah..I'm glad I finally took the plunge..it's a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be. :bigthumb:
