Well that's a mighty fine looking Stratocaster guitar. It looks classy with the gold hardware and the flamed maple top...gorgeous!

Re: Finally finished my custom S-Style

Normally, I'm indifferent to gold hardware, but on this one, I think it really looks good.

But more importantly, she plays really well and stays in tune.

At first, I didn't like the pickups, but after playing with the heights and some of the EQs a bit for, she got a really nice warm sound to it. Next to 0 icepick while still cutting well.
Both the Neck and Bridge pickups have the treble sides low and the bass sides normal. The middle is slightly low.

Surprisingly, I really liked the Neck + Middle + Bridge setting when I didn't think I would.

Re: Finally finished my custom S-Style

I've never had a roasted maple neck
Or a Clapton carve
Tell us more about what that carve is and why you chose that of all the options

Re: Finally finished my custom S-Style

I played the Clapton style back on another friend of mine's guitar and thought it was cool and comfortable because of the way I play. I have long, skinny fingers and the V fits perfectly in that cleft in my thumb and index finger joints. I chose the Roasted Maple because another friend of mine had one ("Standard Thin" shaped, not soft-V shaped) and I thought it was pretty neat. It's also durable if you decide to go without a finish. I was originally going to go to an all-Rosewood neck, but it was less expensive to get the Roasted Maple and felt really close to the full Rosewood. I chose Pau Ferro because I played another guitar at a guitar store that had one and it had everything I liked about Rosewood in the way it felt, but was a bit snappier, at least to me. The Pau Ferro also matched the aesthetic more because Rosewood is darker, but both would have matched well. So I combined the best of what I liked and decided on that neck profile with those woods. The main factor was playability. The 12 inch fret radius was because I learned to play on an Ibanez ARC100, my first electric, and it has a 12-inch radius. I liked the way that one played for the most part, so I got the same radius. I don't particularly care for the radius on Fender necks, they're too round for me personally.

Those are the reasons I picked that neck profile.

Gorgeous color combo. I like your choice of pups too. Sweet build.
