So, It's been a few months, but I've finally got my grandpa's old guitar fixed up like I promised him I would.. It's a 1977 Gretsch Committee Guitar. Some of you may remember me posting a couple threads about it, here and, here
I tried to fix er' up myself.. ----edit*
I'm here to tell you that it didn't happen.. I buckled down and brought it to this guy I know named Dan. He did it all for $250.. Truss rod, saddles, sanded down the divets on the frets/got rid of most fret wear, smoothed out the neck, new strings, conditioner for the fretboard, a few coats of wax for the body, fixed a little chip off the neck, made and placed a new nut, fixed electronics, set intonation.. etc etc..
It sounds pretty outstanding.. I said it sounded amazing before.. It's not even the same guitar.. Totally different. Totally better.. I mean, the dang nut was basically a piece of plastic and two pieces of paper haha. It also had acoustic strings on it. I'm rocking the hybrids at the moment. That's what I had the action set for.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures. I know I'll enjoy playing this thing every day till I die, and love every minute of it just like my grandpa did..
Here's a few before and afters.. The first two are new pics though.
