Finally ordered my pedalboard case...

I've been eyeballing a cheap DIY pedal board case for a while now. I haven't ordered it yet because I just haven't had the time or the extra funds to purchase it (even though it was cheap). I finally found a couple on the web for cheap enough that I bit and paid the extra in shipping ($19 in shipping for two). A single case cost that much, but it's heavy duty stamped steel and it is large and in charge (25"x13"x7"). I'll have to mod this case in a way that requires some deft handling of a mig welder to make the lid removable from the rest of the case. The shallow lid will be the pedal board and the case will be the ultra-tough cover for my valuable pedals. My nephew wanted the other case to use to transport his Line-6 POD in. I thought it would be nice for me to get him one and surprise him with it on his birthday, which is coming soon.

I intend to weld in a hinge mount on the front edge of this pedal board and then mount a largely plywood bi-level deck to it using t-bolts welded to the lid to bolt the opposite side from the front-mounted hinge solidly onto the lid. I could use additional t-bolts to fasten it on all sides, but I don't want to have to wrench out four or more screws to access the cable routing and the power. I'd much rather only have to contend with two. If I can get some appropriate t-screws to fasten the top down, that would be ideal.

I think the end result should be incredibly tough and also very unique.
