Re: Finally!!! Pearloid Prails!
We need:
a) Better pics
b) A full tour of that guitar
Yeah, those pics are from my crappy digi cam and were taken in my temp apartment in sao paulo. BTW 2 blocks away from us is a bar called blackmores where we have seen a brasilian kiss tribute band twice last year. Their Ace rocked;-)
Once I get home I may do some videos showing what that guitar can do. I almost always use the mags and models of the JTV simultaneously.
I plug the guitar into POD HD Pro with VDI cable. I use the POD for volume pedal, wah and select additional FX as needed. The POD goes AES out into AXE FX II. Models panned hard left and mags hard right. Each side goes through their own amp and FX chain. Results vary from a fatter sound to a more wide and open sound depending on what I do with the POD and AXE.
For instance my main rock patch will wind up being a custom JTV patch that consists of a PAF and a mini hum stacked on top of each other, then I run the p() side of the prails. If I want to fatten it up a bit I hit one switch on triple shots to put prail into series bucker mode. . .and viola. . fatter sound for single note fills etc.
I typically have an 8ms delay 100% wet in the Axe chain on the right side to seperate the "two guitars". I have done that for years with the PODs but having 2 different guitar sounds takes it to the next level. For a country rhythm I could have a deradnaught on one side with the bridge prail through a DRZ on the pther side.
Some of the prail sounds on their own are so so. Bridge rail doesn't really sound like a tele brigge for instance but when combined with the tele bridge model on variax. . . . cool stuff.
There is a bug in the current POD or JTV FW but barrng that another cool thing I can do is have mags in normal tuning say middle position of the prails both set to rails, then have a tele with 2 filtertrons tuned to nashville high string. Basically the octave sets of a 12 string. Pan one hard left and one hard right and you have te widest sounding 12 string ever. Especially when run through 2 different amps with the 8 ms delay in there.
Whenever I take this puppy out of the case or gig bag I will get some weird looks. Once I play it. . .more weird looks. . .lol.
