Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

After months of waiting for them to arrive and customs to finally let me have them, I finally popped them in!

Guitar is a mahogany Epiphone Black Beauty

I am so satisfied I don't even know where to start

The Pearly Gates is amazing. It's REALLY crunchy, like unexpectedly crunchy. I've never heard a neck pup so crunchy and clear. It's very crunchy (I have to rephrase this!), clear and retains insane definition, even under very high gain.
It sounds amazing and I can even play distorted rhythym with it, which is amazing for a neck pickup.
REALLY solid both on the clean and distortion.

As for the Aldrich.. boy, this one is something!
This is a LOUD pickup. It would make all the vintage antiquity blues tone fans in this forum crap their pants!

It is ridiculously hot, and in a good way (well, if you're into that)
Harmonics just jump out of your guitar. Do a pinch harmonic and it ****ing SCREAMS, and you can bend it any vibrate it anyway you want and it will still be screaming!
On the clean channel, it's too spanky and in your face, so it's not a clean pickup at all.
But if you love distortion, it's amazing. It measures at nearly 18k but it uses an Alnico V magnet, so it retains all the colour and feel of a typical alnico magnet, as opposed to the more sterile IMO ceramics

I can't say how happy I am with this guitar.
It's really LOUD, screaming, fat and powerful. A lead player's dream!

Re: Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

I'm having a problem

The neck pickup is coming out much louder than the bridge? :\
I've already adjusted the height, the neck is really low and the bridge really high and the neck is still coming out a bit fatter and louder

what could this be? something wrong with the wiring?

Re: Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

Sorry for the "duhhhh" question but: - are your tone and volume pots rolled all the way up?

Re: Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

you have 2 choices.

1. Keep lowering the PG.
2. Lift the Aldrich more.

Or you can do a combination of the two. Lower the PG and raise the Aldrich until the volume level out. It might take some time though

Re: Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

Hello!
I have a question about the Aldrich. Did you tried to do a wiring wich can split the bridge Humbucker? Maybe it sound better this way for clean sounds.

Nah, I didn't do it because I don't have push pull pots or extra switches

But i might do it someday

Re: Finally set in my Pearly Gates and Suhr Aldrich!

This is a nice combo! I had the unlikely combo of the JB/Alnico Pro II and later the Aldrich/Alnico Pro II and both worked like champs.

You are right about the Aldrich - loud, hot and full of percussiveness.
