I know SD sells preloaded Strat pickguards with Firebird mini hums. I just never thought about it, not having experience with Firebirds.
So, a buddy gave me an old SM1 Firebird set (the price on the plastic cases is $77, if that tells you anything.) I had a good Squier Bullet Strat laying around, so I decided to see what a Firecaster sounded like.
Holy ****, it's great. The clear, crisp highs of a single coil, and the mids that standard single coils lack. The bottom end is good, but I'm one of those sane people that lets the bass be the bass. When you add gain, it can hang. Well.
500k pots, .47 cap, treble bleed, 3 way switch, tone for each pickup.
Seriously, I'm in love. I think I've found the guitar/pickup combo for me.
