First Boss GT-8 recording.

I bought myself a Boss GT-8 a few days ago and te more I play with it the more I like it!:D

The main reason I got was the fact that I could hook it up so that my amps preamp goes into the fx chain of the GT-8 (4 cable method).

I have just started to work on my live sound using this method, but I also found out that if I use the "recording out" output of my amp for recording when it's hooked up with the GT-8, the results aint that bad.:approve:

So here's some gainy riffing and a solo.

The riffs are played with my Koch Twintone's second channel passing throung the GT-8 (no fx engaged)...the solo is the same amp channel that is boosted by the GT-8 "fat boost" and there is a bit of analog delay from the GT-8 as well.

Then I switched to the Koch's clean channel and engaged the Gt-8's chorus, reverb and delay..

I guess this should give a pretty good idea of the live sound I can expect from my new rig.

I like it.:D

Whaddayou think?

Re: First Boss GT-8 recording.

I love the sound, you should do well with that setup live.

I have a GT-6, and use it for all of my recordings. I haven't figured out the 4 cable method yet (too lazy to try), but I run it into the clean channel of my Marshall. I use some of the effects alone, or I can use the pre-amps to dirty up my clean channel. I also love the volume pedal, and have it set up to tap the top and turn the wah on. I know I don't use it to it's full potential.

It's great for recording, super easy. I use the headphone out to my soundcard, and get even better results.

I haven't worked that one out yet. How do you go about it?

Thanks.:D

Re: First Boss GT-8 recording.

Great tones!!

The rythm tone in the first clip is a tiny little bit muddy imho but only on the lower strings (E and A). The notes on the D and G string sound fat though.

Re: First Boss GT-8 recording.

It is a volume pedal in the "off" for the wah i believe and when engaged it is a wah. My me50 is like that, though the wah for it sounds like ass so i use my crybaby.

Re: First Boss GT-8 recording.

ive got an excellent plan for my gt6 in conjunction with a 5150 when i get one- four cable method using gt6 for cleans and effects, whilst still taking the grind from the 5150's melting distortion channel!
