What isn't it doing for you? Cleans? Dirt?

AND...how much what settings are you using on your HotPlate.

If you attenuate to much it will sound like ****e. A dimed plexi to bedroom volume just ain't happening for example.

The dirt blows and yes im knockin it down to the bottom of "bedroom level"

Ouch.

That much attenuation will kill just about anything.

When I use mine, it tends to sound best at 8db attenuation or less.

When running down at bedroom level I've learned to accept the fact that it's not going to sound great. My speakers crack the sound all up because they're not being worked right and the normally sweet sound of overdrive sounds more like bad static.

But then again, that's why I have a solid state practice amp and a distortion pedal.

I'd never sell my HotPlates.

The speakers play a big part. They need to be stimulated with some volume.

Ive heard the komet airbrake attenuates down to bedroom level and stays very true to the cranked amp sound...can anyone verify this?

Unless they've found some way to get your speakers to sound like they have 100w going through them when they have 0.3w going through them (not very likely), I doubt it's true.

Re: First impressions on a THD Hotplate....

Bedroom volumes are all gonna squash, both the HP and the Weber Mass are great at gigging volume but at quiet levels they all suffer. I have heard very nice clips with a PPIV master volume. That might be worth checking into, there is always a tradeoff at low volume but the PPIV might offer a bit more clarity down low.

Going down to that level you are just better off getting a ss/modeling amp. It is just hard to beat anymore for bedroom level sound quality.
