First Thread, Yay! Questions about custom shop pickups!!

I browsed the forums for this and I couldn't find it. I didn't look long so I may have missed it.

Basically I'm wanting to get "custom" pickups and I'm not sure how much they would be. Because I'm not wanting a pickup custom made. I just want a pickup that Seymour Duncan already makes but with different color options.

I want the Nazgul and Sentient combo but with ether a nickel or chrome cover like you'd see on a les Paul or an SG. Would I pay the full custom shop fee or would I not have to pay as much due to the fact that they already make the pickup but have to put a cover on it? Of course with the wax dip and stuff.

welcome to the forum!

i have to believe that a sentient (passive mount only) with a cover would be a slight up charge shop floor custom and not full custom shop price.

Welcome to the forum. I would suggest buying the set and putting on the covers yourself. It is very simple to do. You will find threads on it here and many YouTube videos showing the process. It will be cheaper in the long run and you will get the pickup in your hands quicker.

Or if you want to order directly from Seymour Duncan, you can do it with what's called a "Shop Floor Custom" order. For instance, if you want to order a JB, but want pink and yellow bobbins, you can do that instead of a full custom shop order. You should only have to pay for the cost of the cover, in addition to the normal cost of the pickups. Here's the information page:

I know it says contact your local dealer, but in the past I've been able to order "Shop Floor Custom" orders by emailing or calling customer service..... at least in the past. It's been a few years since I've done it though, FWIW.

Good luck.
