Well, I finally decided to get a tube amp. I am gonna get the Peavey Valveking VK100 head and cabinet. I am partial to Mississippi and my funds are limited. Now the time comes for my first stompbox setup. This will be my first as I have always used digital modeling and multieffects processers. These are the pedals I believe to use for my first setup when i buy them.

-Radial Engineering Plexitube
-Zakk Wlyde Dunlop Wah
-Ibanez TS9(will mod in the future)
-Keely Compressor
-BBE sonic stomp
-EH Holy Grail Reverb
-EH Small Clone Chorus
-Boss DD-7
-Boss DS-1(will mod in future)
-MXR EVH Flanger
-ISP Noise Decimator

Any comments or revisions anyone would make. This is just a list not the order of the chain.

I play southern rock and country and classic rock, but with a modern edge and like the sustain like distortion of the Plexi and heavy crunch sounds.

Thanks guys!

get them one at a time and learn to appreciate what each pedal is capable of before buying another one, dude...

otherwise, you're gonna miss a huge range of tones simply because you're gonna be swamped with knobs!

start simple - TS9, delay, one of flange/phase, maybe a DS-1 or an SD-1, and a wah. that's hours of exploring and years of cool sounds already!

one last tip - get the boss pedals used off ebay. they retain their value unless you really mash the finish or modify the electronics!

way more than you could possibly need/use in a live setup.

and where the heck are the pics!?>!?!?!?

Re: First Time stompbox setup!! Comments!!

Its really all subjective and a matter of taste, but since you asked, heres my thoughts on these

-Radial Engineering Plexitube, overpriced and since you've got your plexi-ish/jcm800-ish amp, I dont see what this $300 pedal would be used for

-Zakk Wlyde Dunlop Wah, not a bad wah if you like the voicing, not really my cup of tea

-Ibanez TS9(will mod in the future) classic pedal, I suggest the Analogman mods

-Keely Compressor, overpriced really, theres other stuff on the market as good and cheaper

-BBE sonic stomp, these are a gimmick in a pedalboard if you ask me. Cool effect for post work, but not something you otherwise need

-EH Holy Grail Reverb, classic verb pedal but the new XO one is smaller, easier to power and has more options

-EH Small Clone Chorus, I'd go for the Analogman if you like this type of chorus, very subjective, not my cup of tea

-Boss DD-7, digital boss delay, not bad but Id go with analog or tape

-Boss DS-1(will mod in future) classic pedal but I dont know if you'd really need it with the TS9

-MXR EVH Flanger, classic pedal but I personally don't like the cliche sounds of this pedal, better options out there like A/DA

-ISP Noise Decimator, didnt like it, cut into my tone too much. not bad for what it is but any NR or gate will hurt your tone
