first track in new project studio

Hey everyone here's a track we just "finished" in my basement project studio/drinking chamber. I hate how i sing but it'll have to do for now.

the rythm gtrs are my 79 the paul with a custom in the bridge and my tele w/a lil59 in the bridge & a phat cat in the neck recorded my Bogner at a slightly loud "bedroom level" through a mesa 2x12 w/v30's close mic'd with a sennheiser e906. the drums are a roland td3 electric kit. Bass track was sent via email by an old college buddy so that was cool (beatle bass into an SWR red something combo he's got).

the solo i used my tonelabLE cuz i was just working stuff out but i finished writing it and had a pretty solid take so i left it for now even though the tone is a bit shrill.

any comments /criticisms besides "you suck" ;) are welcome.

i really need to get better at mixing and we just bought a nicer drum brain so we can up the quality of the drum tones.

it's called "Picture"

Hey,

There is a lot right with this and some things need attention for sure. What sticks out the most is the pitchy vocals, work on hitting the notes and perhaps invest in Melodyne. I didn't care for the clean guitar tone but the crunch guitars sound good. You have a Perry Farrell (Janes Addiction) thing going on with your vocals so maybe add a bunch of delay like he does to help them out.

That's a nice set up for a project studio. :)

Re: first track in new project studio

sounds pretty good, a few minor vox pitch problems but sounds pretty nice otherwise. Definately +1 to the perry farrell vibe

Very Janes/Farrell vibe.

Pretty cool I'd say. Clean up the vocal track a bit and you got something good going on there.

Re: first track in new project studio

cool thanks for the feedback guys!

I remember when Janes blew my mind back in my first year of college and i guess that got mashed into my subconscious along with all the VH, zep & beatles already swimming around in there.

I really really need to PRACTICE singing more but I'd much rather just shut up & play my gtr. catch-22 i guess gotta practice to help the whole thing sound better.

I'll just keep re-doing them until i can hit it nice & in key!

I agree with you on the clean tone too innerdream. it's kind of "dead" sounding.. time to experiment more.
