First tube combo amp

I know there have been tons of threads on this, but I have no idea where to start. I play traditional metal, "light" stoner rock (the sword, red fang, etc), and hard/classic rock. I'm looking at Marshalls, voxes, oranges, blackstars, egnators and peavey amps, but like I said I don't know where to start. Nothing over $600 used. I would like something "British" sounding (no sh*tty high gain amps.) Thanks!

I thought you had $1,000 budget (as posted in identical thread earlier)?

Re: First tube combo amp

Now that the price ceiling is 600 and it needs to be a used British voiced combo it is narrowed down pretty much to the DSL40C. And I recall from other threads that you wanted 30, 50, or 100 watts. They are going for between 500 and 600 used. The only Oranges in that price range are heads and that leaves with you with no budget left for a cab. Voxes are usually more than 600 used. So are the new Fender Bassbreakers used. Hotrod deluxes are also between 500 and 600 used but that is American voiced.

You can do a used Tiny Terror and Orange PPC112 or Laney IRT112.

I had a new Blackstar HT Club 40 1-12" combo..sounded really good, but sold to go the EVH 3 route

DSL40.. Change the speaker, pre amp tubes and set the bias and you'll have a sweet setup within your budget..

Re: First tube combo amp

Wait. DSL40 vs tiny terror + ppc212?

PPC212 will put you out of your price range. They go for $600 new.

If you get a used Tiny Terror for around $300-350, you can get a Laney IRT112 new for $199 plus shipping. If you're looking for 30+ watts, go with the DSL40C.

How loud is a tiny terror in comparison to the dsl? Could it play over a loud drummer when dimed?
