The power adapter plug has bent back and feels like it's cracked off the sauter joint. What do I do? Just order another? haha. The switch on these things is one huge POS. Any idea's how I can maybe change that too?

Re: First Tubulator problem

That's a dilemma with cheap pedals. It's cheaper to replace them than to fix them.

Because of that, I would probably get a Bad Monkey instead. Metal casing, good jacks, etc.

OTOH, the Tubulator DOES sound good, and you could buy 11 of them for the price of a TS9.

Re: First Tubulator problem

I bought three of them. As various things about them go bad (nothing yet!) I simply plan on building them into a different chassis with true bypass. I'll probably make one monster pedal using two Tubulators, plus a clean boost, and a mid boost, with four true bypass switches, and one active/passive switch to choose whether my signal will be buffered or not.

Re: First Tubulator problem

Told ya so. ;)

The DC jack may be easy enough to fix. Depends on if the trace broke or not.
As for the switch, probably more work that it's worth.

If somebody would just put a Tubulator in a metal chassis with nice switches, jacks, etc, I think that would be pretty kickass. Did you see they were up to $30 now!?

30$?!?!?!? WTH?! I payed 12!!

Re: First Tubulator problem

I know! I payed $15 shipped for mine, and now they've got the price up to $30! Now, the Tubulator is a great pedal for $15-$20, but not for $30 + shipping, to me, that's money better spent. I knew I should've bought two or three when they were $9.99.

I'd say they are worth 30$, the bad monkey sounds like piss with my stuff....and I hate digitech with a passion.

The general census, and my findings concur, that the Bad Monkey doesn't work as well as normal TS's for boosting amps like we do, because it's got that treble/bass knob, as opposed to just a tone knob, which actually does piss all when run into a high-gain amp. Too much crap to screw with before hitting the amp.

I'd suggest getting an Ibanez TS-7, one of the Tone-Lok one's. I wan't to pick one up for live use... 40 bucks, and 2 or 3 resistors away from the original TS808 circuit (IIRC). I know it uses the same op-amp, at least, and sounds rad on it's own. Plus, you get those two modes to choose from for different flavors.

Re: First Tubulator problem

Jacob, I just meant that for my $30, I expect something a little better built. Now if you gave me a Tubulator in a Boss case, I'd gladly fork over $60+ for it. :)

I'll let ya know how that crow tastes... :fingersx: :chairfall :laugh2:

I wish someone could do this for us! I'd pay 60 for it easy. The Arion simply fits perfectly with my stuff and I'm stickin to it.

Re: First Tubulator problem

This how it looks from inside...I dunno if you can change that switch.Maybe someone can copy the circuit and come up with a sturdy pedal..:laugh2:

Re: First Tubulator problem

VK, what Seraphim means is that the sound, the tonality(or lack of) the Tubulator used as a clean boost, works perfectly to compliment his rig, and rightly so. I use it with several amps, and it always brings similar, consistant results, more punch, more gain, and a tighter low end. The only issue is that mechanicly speaking, it's a poorly built unit, utilizing a plastic housing, and low quality pots/jacks/switches. Bang for the buck, I think when the Tubulator was $10, it was the best OD on the market. Heck, for $30-$50, if it was in a metal housing with higher quality components, I'd still buy it.

Re: First Tubulator problem

....are those jacks real plastic?

The more I see that Twin-Tube the more I like the idea of it. The only downside is that I think I'll have more invested in pedals than I do guitars and amps...
