Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Jam out man. I can't even get my fingers to go that fast playing air guitar.

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

that was great, there were mistakes, but still that was awesome,

that kind of tone never did it for me though honestly

great playing!

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Nice job - I don't know the original so I don't know where the mistakes are :laugh2:

Nice and clean though, pretty impressive. Two things to consider - that thumb really should be behind the neck for most of those sort of runs, and your pinky seems to be lifting up off the fretboard too high; you should concentrate on keeping it closer.

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

great job!Even it is hard to play with a LP like that ,you nailed it.Offcourse you made mistakes ,but even stratovarius make mistakes on stage.they need 3 months to record everything perfect!

Well thats some usefull advice, but does putting the thumb behind the neck will increase speed or something?? i think im pretty used to play it as you saw it, so its really difficult to change. What are the benefits??

For me it makes it easier to reach the lower 3 strings, increasing accuracy on those strings. It took some getting used to for me anyway.

As taphappy said, it'll give your hand greater reach. It also allows your fingers to be more evenly controlled, which will lead to greater precision and accuracy (and hence, less mistakes). I know it's hard to change habits (I had to completely change my picking format a while ago, and that was a struggle), but you'll find if you just take it slow with a little patience, you'll be up to speed with it before long.

The best way to adjust to the new hand position would probably be to do a lot of legato (hammer/pull) runs with the thumb behind the neck, and make sure the fingers are hitting the strings accurately. This should help the fingers get used to the new approach a lot quicker.

3 joints are better than just 2 joints!so let the first joints of your finger work ,as they are stronger and need less energy to do the same movement!

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Thanks for the advice dudes. ill try to practice that way, see how it works for me.:fingersx:

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Nice job dude! specially for being the "FIRT Video ever" :bigthumb:

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Do it slow perfectly, faster perfectly, faster perfectly, etc. Remember that you're asking your hands to do something completely unnatural.

But yeah I can't move my fingers that fast. I don't see the appeal in playing stuff like that (doesn't really excite me), but I'd love to be able to do tiny little phrases really fast like that.

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Well i really liked thos licks, they are simple compared with other stuff, but are played very fast, i like shred, have to admit it, and this is 1 of the 2 or 3 songs i can play entirely, so thats why i posted it, thanks for the comments:)

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

wow ...holy crap....that was awesome.

I cant get my fingers to play that fast

keep it up

and I agree with enveryone else, thumb on back of neck.

Good job man keep it up. I noticed very few mistakes, great playing...specially on an LP :)

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

good stuff.
from a guy who has done his share of 'neoclassical' studying i think you should play the blues a bit more.
that may sound a bit bizarre but i noticed that you need more 'control' in your fingering. of course all this comes slowly so dont despair.

the blues will build some strength in your playing and make those linear runs come out more powerfull and with more command.

more power to ya man! keep practicing! it takes dedication to practice and get good at your instrument.

Re: Firt Video ever! (Stratovarius)

Thanks all for the comments. Tone? i play some blues or slower stuff, but i agree with your advice and observation, i still dont have so much command over the instrument, ill practice more to obtain it, thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks again dudes
