Fishman Fluence single coil mode select

A friend of mine wants me to put some Fishman Fluence pickups in a guitar and I've got a quick question regarding the solder pads.

On certain models such as the classic set. There is 4 solder pads in total. How they describe it is.

the bottom 3
A row of three solder pads are used to select the active coil in the 3 voice mode. The coil names are "bridge" and "neck". The pickups come out of the factory with the inner coils so bridge/neck modes.

yet there are models with SCO (south coil out). This 4th solder pad by itself.

Now if I was to guess as I haven't put much thought into this. This would allow me to go on a bridge pickup for instance from the inner coil to the outer.

And for the sake of google searches by using a higher valued capacitor than suggested as I noticed it's a 220nf (0.22uf) capacitor. Would it just be a more extreme roll off of frequencies if I went with a 470nf (0.47uf) capacitor instead as I can't imagine higher valued capacitors would affect the resonant peak or anything else in these active pickups. Similar to a mix and match set of EMG 81 and blackouts going with the 470nf capacitor.

attached is some helpful images for my question

Re: Fishman Fluence single coil mode select

Don’t worry about the SCO pad. That’s if you want to do special coil combinations by taking the raw signal from the south coil ansnputting it through the preamp of a different Fluence pickup, as is the case with the SSA and SSP setup for HSS or HSH guitars.

You are correct, that by bridging the center solder pad to the left or right side, you’re making the decision which coil is hot when in single coil mode. And you can do that with a switch, but most people want to set and forget.

Thanks for your insight into these pickups Frank. Next time I got a question I'll email you directly on your profile.

I agree most people just want to set it and forget it. For instance if I had two pickups in the SCO pad option would I get outer coils for those who are really picky or trying a more ambitious super 5 way switch wiring.
