Re: FIVE WATTS, GARAGE, 11AM WEEKDAY: just got a knocking neighbour "TURN IT DOWN!!"
A bunch of years ago, my band had set up for rehearsal in the other guitarist's garage. We were just launching into our first song when the guy next door comes over and tells us to stop playing because his newborn baby *might* wake up. We were in the process of telling the guy to hose off when the guitarist's wife came out and recognized the next door neighbor as someone she knew. Starts chatting him up, asking about the baby, etc. Then she made us pull the plug.
Truth is, it was the middle of the day, and the guy couldn't legally say "boo" about the noise. I'm also of the opinion that it is a mistake for new parents to try to create a perfectly quiet environment for babies to sleep in - just teaches them to wake up whenever that perfect silence is broken. But from a practical standpoint, we would have created problems with the neighbor if we ignored his request.
I blame neurotic parenting for the fact that our band never made it big.
