I just got an Ibanez FL9 and I couldn't be happier. It doesn't get lost in my sound and has nice swirly clarity although I will add that I took Vasshu's (Niels) advice and put it in the front of the amp and not the loop and that's where it sounds best! (Cheers Niels)

+1 to all of this

best one in my book, if considering every factor incl. $$$

does 95% of what the MXR can do (Unchained) but so much more in the subtle chorusy areas thanks to the delay knob

yellow 9 series wins

or spend a purple butt-ton (hecto-tonne in Euro-metric) more on the ADA re-ish, if $$$ ain't a factor

I havent tried alot of the famous flangers but the BF-2 is by far the best one i have played it is quite versatile really and alot warmer, clearer and smoother then others (Ibanez FLL, Ibanez CF7, BOSS BF-3, The flangers in the Line 6 MM4, most flangers in amp emulating software)

stay away from the digitech one. The flanger is not their forte.

+1. Same thing, it does that Heart Barracuda vibe very. In front of an amp as well. Vashnu has the argument that EFX Loop level of signal is made for rack effects not pedal's instrument level, something like that.

If you want to totally geek out on flanger, you should bag a Yamaha digital effect like the late Magicstomp, a staggeringly complex piece of gear you can pick up for nothing in mint condition from users who were unable to program them.

The effects are very high-quality, same as in Yamaha's top-of-the-line studio stuff, but in a compact unit. There are at least three different flangers in there somewhere, one with fourteen (14) adjustable parameters.

Too complex for you? Me, too. ;)
