floating bridge PU

Hi Forum,

last week during a jam session I noticed that my Epi Emporer Regent archtop sounds great not only for Jazz, but for singing guitar sounds like Santana or Gary Moore as well - never tried that before.

Now I wonder if it would somehow be possible to attach a bridge pickup without routing. Maybe a similar construciton like old Framus. Is there a way to attach a PU to the wooden bridge?

You could do a mount like the old McCarty pickguard system---see the 50's Gibson L7C electric versions or a Johnny Smith Model...I guess you could use pins or a rod like the DeArmonds, but there isn't a lot of wood or surface area on a typical archtop bridge for a solid installation...a 5 ply old school pickguard with a heavy bracket is a lot more solid than you might think
