Hi,

I have wilkinson trem in my carvin, and it's nice little device! :laugh2:
The only problem, I need it to be fixed sometimes! There are some options I've found on the net... Still not convinced...

Which one is the best?

Wait a bit for the tremolno is what I advise.
Also, the tremsetter can be setup for fullstop, but it's not what it was originally intended for.

Re: Floating-to-hardtail convertor poll!

I had a Tremsetter in my old Strat Plus. It didn't really do much of anything as far as I could tell. I ended up taking it out and setting the vibrato flush against the body. Better tone, double stop bends don't go flat, stays in tune if a string breaks.

Re: Floating-to-hardtail convertor poll!

Tremsetters can be tricky to set up and require drilling inside your trem cavity. When properly set up then work pretty well, but don't actually lock down the trem to the point where it's a hardtail.

I wouldn't touch a tremstop because I don't want to have anything stuck to the top of my guitar with double-sided tape.

The tremconverter seems like an okay piece of kit but I'd tend towards the TremolNo for a few reasons.
  1. Some folks I trust were beta testers and rave about it
  2. It seems to be better made than the tremconverter
  3. It's inventor is a really nice guy where the father of the tremconverter is an abrasive nutjob
I'll be buying 4-5 TremolNos the day they become available.

If you need a blocked trem, then block the trem.

No tremsetter, blackbox or similar will get the same effect.... either you want a hardtail or you want a trem....

If people would have BOUGHT the Wilkinson convertible instead of constantly just saying what a cool idea it is 10 years ago, maybe we´d have another option .. but since they didn´t, it even went so far that Trev Wilkinson sold his name and ideas.... ;)

Another good american company run right out of business by the supporting american consumer and their love for oppressive human rights-****ing regimes, solely because someone else was cheaper... who cares if the other product was something totally different, quality is the same everywherer, right :smack:

wilkinson made something called the Convertible, which, when the arm was pushed down, locked the trem...it is available outside the US, since it infringed on some sort of patent here...this may be what you need.

Come to think of it your´re right, I think that was the issue, it infringed on the Kahler Auto-Latch patent... ;)
