Floyd Rose Question For Users

Have a guitar with floyd rose now for couple of weeks and i have a question as i am still quite newbie about it. the thing is: is it normal, as i hit the low sixth string, let it ring, and then after that i bend the first string, and the low 6th strings go a few steps down as i bend the first string ? in guitar with hard tailes, this is not common, so i am asking if that is because the floyd tremolo system ? i've noticed the same thing a coouple years ago, when trying some low budget ibanez guitar.. but now, the guitar is a higher priced korean made LTD superstrat, so i am asking, is that normal ?

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

^^^ most likely yes, unless there is a tremolo stabilizer, and i bet the LTD/Schecter in question do not have one, the answer is yes.

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

When you bend strings the bridge can also move (float) back and forth, hence the drop in pitch.

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

Ok, you relief lots of my doubts... because the guitar is new, and i want to know if everything is alright with her.

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

The springs in the back can be too "springy" as well. If it's really easy to dive bomb, then the springs are a looser type. With those, the trem will move easier with strings bends.

To tighten it up, add a spring but you'll need to adjust the claw to get it level again (assuming this is a floating Floyd and not one that is decked or dive-bomb only). The spring tension in the back and the string tension on top need to match for it to float correctly.

If it's dive only, then tighten the spring claw in the back a couple turns at a time for each screw until it doesn't lift so easy when doing string bends.

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

as you bend the string, look at the floyd rose from the side. you will see it raise off the body, as if you are pressing down on the bar.

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

Bring it to someone who knows about floyds and get them to show you the basics of using/ maintaining one. It will help you understand what is going on alot better!

Re: Floyd Rose Question For Users

On any floating bridge
If you bend one string higher whilst another is ringing
As one goes higher the other will get lower

If you pull up on the bar
All the strings get tight
