Floyd Roses

I have a few questions regarding Floyd Roses, before I start, I will mention that I have 2 types, an ESP LTD Floyd Rose Special, on my LTD M-300FM, and Jackson Licensed Floyd Rose which is on my Jackson JS30RR FR, and when I get it around Christmas time the Jackson Licensed Floyd Rose on my Aunt's KE3 Kelly. I don't know much about the Kelly last time I saw it was in late 2006, and my aunt said she is going to give it to me for Christmas. There is a chance it might be a pre-Fender Jackson, but it has the Skulls graphic, and I don't know if they put that design on the KE3 or not in the 90s, but I do know the KE3 was produced pre-Fender. All I know is she last played a long time ago.. I'll see if I can get a serial number for further information.

Anyways, on topic now.


A) The Tremol-no. I intend on buying as many as I need for all of my Floyd equipped guitars, I'd like some feedback from people who use them for their Floyds.

B) More on the Tremol-no. Let's say I put it in hard-tail mode to restring and tune. Then I put it back into floating-trem mode. Will my bridge still be floating and in the tuning I want it to be, or will I need to make major adjustments up at the headstock, or on the fine-tuners.

C) Going back to what I said about the KE3 I MIGHT be getting. In the event I get it and it is a pre-Fender(which I doubt for some reason, if I can get a serial number or further information I'll bring it up) how were Jackson's Floyds pre-Fender? I can say a lot about how great the Floyd is on my JS-series Jackson. I would assume from what I heard about pre-Fender Jackson that it would be amazing.

D) How can do drop-tunings on a Floyd? (Like drop-D) I've heard about the EVH D-Tuna, but is it possible to do it with a fine tuner?

E) The "big" question. I'm looking for an extremely detailed guide on how to set up one of these Floyds, it seems like no matter how many videos I watch, I never get any better at it. So I'm looking for someone around here to maybe give me a user-friendly guide on setting up a Floyd for E-standard.(I managed to float the bridge on my LTD, but the tuning was a full step down :dunce Also, I should mention, if someone wants to give me a little guide, let's pretend that I just removed all 6 strings, that's mainly what I'm looking for. I understand that for doing a general string change I remove one, replace, and repeat.

D) It's hard to use drop-D machines like the D-Tuna on a floating Floyd. The EVH guitars that come with it are all non-recessed, where the trem sits on the face of the guitar in the neutral position.

A. The Tremol-no is not the end all be all of locking floyds. Its very good, but it does not always work perfectly. I lost the thumb screws on mine cause I left the back of the guitar open so that I could adjust it more easily.

B. If you changed using the same string gauge, theoretically yes, if the strings are stretched out before you unblock it. Again, you will have to retune over the first day or so I'd say.

C. Jackson floyds are really not the best. The Ibanez floyds are good, some prefer them to the Original Floyd Rose, which IMO is king.

D. IF you make sure that you cannot pull up on the floyd, you can go to drop D using the fine tuner if you have it set so that when you're in standard, its pretty much all the way in. The EVH D-TUNA doesn't do anything that your fine tuners cannot do. It can do it quicker, but theres no way to make it super precise, you have to be using a certain gauge of strings IIRC? Either way, you can still push down on the bar, but you need to limit it so that it won't go up or your other strings will go out of tune.
