Floyd wood screw vs bushing

Re: Floyd wood screw vs bushing

I would think with a wood screw you would get more sound and vibration out of your guitar. More vibration transfer from screw to wood than metal to metal bushing then wood.
I hold these truths to be self evident.

Exactly my thought!!!

Re: Floyd wood screw vs bushing

I've had both and never noticed a sound difference. Not saying it's not there. There very well may be, but I didn't catch it. The main reasoning for the bushings is overall stability.

Re: Floyd wood screw vs bushing

Hey there,
I talked about a LP Jr. I fixed up on another thread but forgot to mention that it came with that metal housing/bushing crap, and I had pulled it all out, which was easy, and had someone local put in the hardest maple dowels they could and then went the the old time worn ABR screwed right into the maple, which was tight, and hammered into the maple. The result was-to me- night and day louder, deeper, more sustain, and bit of bite (just a touch) from the extra maple it went into. I swear this to be the full and honest truth.
Signed this day of our lord 10/04/14 by the undersigned,
Steven John Buffington a.k.a. S, SJ ,SJB, Steve. Next up on the docket, your Honor: Carl Verheyen vs. (some) of the people. Case # 1: Angle claw vs. Straight. Client is a flight risk as he is much in demand as a great guitarist and frequently leaves the U.S. However, the people do not request remand. Arguments will NOT be heard because there have been far too many of them. JUDGE: In that case, this case is dismissed, and Mr Verhehen is free to do whatever he likes with his claw! Next case: Gibson vs. the World.
