For Ibanez players ... WUT MODEL ???

Hi Dudes .... I´m really looking for a Ibanez guitar ... surfing in the Web i found those models to be interesting .... :

Ibanez RG370DX --> Basswood Body
*Wizard II Neck (19-21mm X 43-56mm)
*24/Jumbo Frets
*Maple Wood
*Bound Rose Wood Fretboard
*Edge Pro II Bridge

Ibanez S470DX --> Mahogany Body
*Wizard II Neck (19-21mm X 43-56mm)
*22/Jumbo Frets
*Maple Neck Wood
*Bound Rose Wood Fretboard
*ZR Floyd Rose Bridge

Sorry for the GIANT post ... but plz give me ur advices in those guitar ... does anyone here have one or have played in one ... OBS: I like Trash, Melodic, Death .... Ozzy ... Shaman ... Maiden ... Angra ... Sabbath ...

One more question ... about the RG1570 ... its a prestige RG isn´t it ??? Are those RG1570 assembled in japan ??? Anyone have one ???

Are those guitar recommended for those styles ... Any other suggestion in the Ibanez class of guitar ???

prestiges are supposed to be made in japan.. i dont know the model numbers per se and where they are made exactly, but i dont trust ibanez more than i can throw them.

out of those two, i'd get the mahagony one. you'll still be stuck with the crappy neck and the 370 RG aint worth the price tag.

your best bet would be to check ebay if you can (can you buy off of ebay in brazil?) and look out for any prestige ibanezes and/or the old 70's or 80's Destroyers (only ibanez guitar worth purchasing)

You don't say what your budget is, but I got a gently used RG270 on EBay with a hard case for under $200. Basswood / Maple / H-S-H/ Wizard / Floyd. Take a look there.

He just doesnt like them man, his choice, i love them. I have a Rg570ex from a few years ago, beautiful guitar, made in japan, flawless construction. I'm an RG man, but my mates S series is also quite nice, just not my favourite, try them both and see what you like.

They would deffiantly both work well for you metal music influences, although to get the best out of them you may want to consider pickup changes, as ibanez pickups certainly are not the best around, although IMO there is little that can beat an Ibanez with the correct choice of pickup in it.

I agree with Forbes. I have an RG570, with a beat to hell body. Got it used at GC ($175!), slapped in some new pups, and I'm set :)

too hard on them? nope, not from what i've seen around here.. maybe the states are diferent, but i wouldnt piss on an ibanez (unless it's a destroyer) to save it from burning.

that powdered floyd knockoff is quite hilarious.. pretty good for a cheap one, but if you abuse it a bit too much, it breaks. dont know what the portion of the abuse is (he probably dropped it) but metal shouldnt break.. bend, and ding, but not break, it's not 1914 we're talking about. the necks.. are 100% not my thing. i can break my fingers on it, then there's the beyond crap stock pickups.. almost no transparent colors, plus their painting process is kind of weird (if the ibanez representative is beliveable) and paired with the soft basswood, it's infamous to get chips off of the finish

just my preference and opinion, i dont say you need to like the same thing as i do

I got an RG 570 expecting it to be the be all and end all of superstrats... and then I found over time it just isn't for me. The neck is very thin and wide, so take that into account. I found it just wasn't comfortable for me especially over extended periods (was missing some wood to fill my hands :wink: ), and I don't use a trem so the floating floyd was stopping me from changing tunings easily...

The one thing it was good for though was sweep picking... but that might have been because I left mine set up with 9s :laugh2:

The prestige necks are quite nice, and there isn't really anything wrong with either of those guitars, but given the choice I'd look elsewhere.

But then again, you're talking to a guy who likes thick necks and hardtails ;)

i hae tired a ibanez before and its an ok guitar not my cup of tea. I know they are famous for being thin sounding, so if you got an ibanez i think you would need to swap the pick ups out for something very fat sounding like an invader or a distortion. Some guitars are for some people and not for others, its thier taste in guitars they are expressing. If you like them go for it man! I personally if i had to choose go for the mahagony bodied ibanez, because basswood isnt the greatest wood out there and 24 frets is overkill. Alot fo pros use ibanez i know but it works for them obviously and not me.
