For those interested in building guitars

Re: For those interested in building guitars

^^ A very good series, I looked at it a few months ago, David Fletcher knows what he`s doing. Ther are some minor thiings that I like to see done differently over the course of I think 2 or 3 hours total, but nothing that is "wrong" per se. Mostly just in the sense of doing one thing before the other when I do it the other way around. :)

To add more semi- tutorials, here`s a series from Crimson Guitars that`s similar in length but it`s a neckthru singlecut ;)

I actually just discovered this series of videos today and it is awesome others found it too! Was researching making necks because I want to build a tele neck.

Now Zerb, this is a question for you, but making necks still seems very difficult compared to making bodies. Is there any reason to "fear" making them? It still seems scary haha.

Re: For those interested in building guitars

I watched this, start to finish.
Lots of good info here, & he is very skilled.
I'd like to have access to his shop for a month:D

Not "Difficult", Precise ;)

Fear the tools and the man that wields them, not the workpiece ;)

That said, you?ll probably want to buy 2 blanks or do a test build out fo srcaps /plywood , first. Everybody pooches thier first neck. Everybody. ;)

Re: For those interested in building guitars

I've only watched 2 videos so far, and I was impressed! At least now I know how a truss rod is installed properly. Having the proper tools really helps. It's pretty exciting when you know you can build a guitar from scratch. Playing a guitar that you've built yourself must be quite the experience. This is something I would really like to venture into. Great post and great videos. I plan to watch the rest of the vids shortly.;)
