I'm honestly loving learning and playing the mandolin more than the guitar. It may be the honeymoon phase, but i've always liked them, and wanted to learn. I just never decided, to actually do it, until recently.

It just feels right...

My sister still has my dad's 1930's Model A Gibson. I can appreciate your affinity to them. Congrats.

Mandolin chord shapes, to me, resemble upside down cowboy chords

A friend of mine has got one and was learning at the dining room table.
As I sat across from him, looking at the book upside down, I saw the familiar shapes.

When he became frustrated, and exchanged it for the box I was playing.
He became upset that I "knew how to play all along" and withheld this knowledge.

I showed him my "trick"

I can't play leads on guitar worth a damn. However on Mandolin I can play some very intricate stuff. Something about the tuning intervals that seems to click?
